The Whole Story: A Burst Pipe, a Handoff, and Two Families

If you bought Coffig back in the day and then watched us go quiet, you deserve more than a subject line. Here is the unabridged version.

The pipe

Coffig was started in 2008 by William and Rosmarie, who dreamed it up while living in South America and then spent years perfecting the roast until a cup of roasted figs could genuinely stand in for coffee. They ran it for seventeen years — and then a pipe burst in the overhead of the production facility. Cleanup after something like that isn't a weekend with a mop; for a small operation it is the kind of blow that makes you sit down and ask how much more you have in you.

The handoff

Rather than rush a reopening, William and Rosmarie chose the wiser path: find someone who would carry on their vision. So production stayed paused while they looked for the right hands. From the outside, that looked like silence: orders stopped, the bags ran out and stayed out, and nobody wrote to tell you why. That last part is on all of us, and we're sorry for it.

Two families

In February 2026, two families in Washington's Yakima Valley bought the company — the Gabels and the Lambertons. We didn't buy it as an investment. We bought it because we believed the same thing William and Rosmarie did: the morning ritual is worth keeping, and the dependence isn't. Since then we've moved production, rebuilt the website, redesigned the bags, and — the part that matters — started roasting again.

Where things stand

Coffig Original and Coffig Gold are in stock and shipping today, with free US shipping — same figs, same roast philosophy, same cup. The 1 lb value bag, the travel tea bags, and K-Cups are in the works, in whatever order you tell us to make them: there's a one-click survey in our emails doing exactly that. And if you're using the restart as your own restart, the free 10-Day Caffeine Freedom Challenge walks you off caffeine one swapped cup at a time.

Thanks for having bought from us back when. It's a strange and good thing to be picking this up.
